The submandibular gland excision takes approximately an hour and a half to complete, and patients can
expect to leave four hours after arriving. A small drain is placed under the skin by the incision and is
removed the following morning.
With this procedure, patients can expect some mild discomfort which should subside over the days
following the operation. Patients resume their normal activities in as little as one or two days, and there
are no dietary restrictions necessary with a submandibular gland excision. Saliva production should not
